How to Write a Book About Your Life

4/11/2017 10:25:32 AM

Telling your story is important. Only you can preserve those precious memories of your life, and pass on the wisdom and advice that you’ve gained throughout your life. And it’s not as difficult as you may think to write the story of your life. The best way to start is to set a goal for when you want to be finished writing your book, and just answer a question or two a day. Some questions to ask yourself might be:

  • What’s your earliest memory?
  • Describe your grandparents and your parents?
  • What historical events impacted your life?
  • What are your core beliefs?
  • What would you like to pass on to the next generation?

There are also resources which can assist you with lots of question ideas, picture storage, and assistance with formatting your book.  Some companies, such as LifeBio, also have some of these resources available in print, if you prefer to write longhand.

If you need even more inspiration, look through some of your old pictures, and tell stories about them as well. Make lists of your favorite memories, and the family and friends who made an impact on your life. Before you know it, you will have a book about your life that you can share with your loved ones, and pass on for generations to come.
