"I worked as a seamstress at Shamokin Dress Factory for 38 years, making high-end dresses.  I learned to sew on the job.  First they would do a prototype and send it down for a pattern to be made.  Then they would cut the dress from the pattern and send it to me to sew the fabric together.

My boss always told us not to produce anything that we would not wear ourselves.  It had to be perfect.  I used the production method that I learned on the job to make over 4,000 Barbie doll dresses for my niece, Maria, and other children.  Now, I am volunteering my time here at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility by sewing a quilt for charity.  I enjoy doing that!"
